    1. The Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, after Ehud died.

    2. So the Lord sold them into the hand of King Jabin of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor; the commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth-ha-goiim.

    3. Then the Israelites cried out to the Lord for help; for he had nine hundred chariots of iron, and had oppressed the Israelites cruelly twenty years.

    4. At that time Deborah, a prophetess, wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel.

    5. She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the Israelites came up to her for judgment.

    6. She sent and summoned Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, “The Lord, the God of Israel, commands you, ‘Go, take position at Mount Tabor, bringing ten thousand from the tribe of Naphtali and the tribe of Zebulun.

    7. I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin’s army, to meet you by the Wadi Kishon with his chariots and his troops; and I will give him into your hand.’”

    8. Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go.”

    9. And she said, “I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah got up and went with Barak to Kedesh.

    10. Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and ten thousand warriors went up behind him; and Deborah went up with him.

    1. I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church at Cenchreae,

    2. so that you may welcome her in the Lord as is fitting for the saints, and help her in whatever she may require from you, for she has been a benefactor of many and of myself as well.

    3. Greet Prisca and Aquila, who work with me in Christ Jesus,

    4. and who risked their necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

    5. Greet also the church in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert in Asia for Christ.

    6. Greet Mary, who has worked very hard among you.

    7. Greet Andronicus and Junia, my relatives who were in prison with me; they are prominent among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.

    8. Greet Ampliatus, my beloved in the Lord.

    9. Greet Urbanus, our co-worker in Christ, and my beloved Stachys.

    10. Greet Apelles, who is approved in Christ. Greet those who belong to the family of Aristobulus.

    11. Greet my relative Herodion. Greet those in the Lord who belong to the family of Narcissus.

    12. Greet those workers in the Lord, Tryphaena and Tryphosa. Greet the beloved Persis, who has worked hard in the Lord.

    13. Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord; and greet his mother—a mother to me also.

    14. Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers and sisters who are with them.

    15. Greet Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them.

    12. Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day’s journey away.

    13. When they had entered the city, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying, Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.

    14. All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer, together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as his brothers.

    1. Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.

    2. There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him.

    3. Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

    4. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said,

    5. “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?”

    6. (He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.)

    7. Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial.

    8. You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” The Plot to Kill Lazarus
