PARISH ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR 2024

Dear Parishioners,
Greetings to you in the name of Triune
God. Let's thank God for all the blessings
that we have received in the month of June.
May the Lord give us a beautiful summer
in the coming days. On July 3rd we cele-
brate St. Thomas Day. We should com-
memorate the belief and legacy of the
founder of our Malankara Mar Thoma
Church, St. Thomas.
The first Sunday of July (7th July) we ob-
serve as "tithe offering" Sunday. As we
experience countless blessings from God,
we should be grateful to God, and we
should share our resources for the spread-
ing of the Gospel of the Lord. May I also
share another concern that it is not appro-
priate that we have still got a big amount as
arrears to diocese . I request your generous
participation in various collections, that meet the needs of various minis-
tries. 2nd Sunday we observe as clergy Sunday and Meditate upon Priests
serving in pastoral Ministry. May Lord bless all our clergy to be very
blessed ministers in his Vineyard. On the third Sunday we meditate on the
people of God who are co-workers in building up the kingdom of God. We
must be a Christian neighbor to others so that we can share in building
God's kingdom. On fourth Sunday we meditate on Gifts of the Holy Spirit
for the spiritual nourishment of people of God. We should receive the Holy
Spirit and make it happen to others for many spiritual blessings .
We will have our VBS this month on 24th to the 27th. I request all of you
to listen the VBS flair and make arrangements for the participation of all
our children.
I congratulate all our students who successfully completed their courses
and graduated last month. May God bless their future with His abundant
mercy.
Again I would like to remind that , we have to strengthen our prayer
meetings in person.
Please uphold the diocesan MTVEA conference which will be held on Ju-
ly 9-13 at Arizona .
May Almighty bless us all with all His goodness.

Glory be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit - One True God!
Beloved family in Christ,
The recently concluded sacred Apostles' fast holds significant importance in our
spiritual journey. It serves as a period of deep reflection and preparation, allowing
us to delve deeper into our discipleship and relationship with God.
This time of contemplation has allowed us to appreciate the profound reasons for
our journey in the temporal world - our own blessed purpose and as the Church.
On the eve of His precious passion, Jesus prayed as high priest when his disci-
ples were with him. This prayer, recorded in St. John 17:11, is a powerful testa-
ment to Jesus' mission and his desire for unity among his followers. "...Holy Fa-
ther, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be
one, even as we are one. (St. John 17:11).Jesus' prayer was not just for His
disciples but for all who believe in Him.
The prayer underscores the vital role of unity and community in our faith. Jesus
was sent with a purpose, a mission of love to free us from sin, despair, demise,
and dread. Christ saw glory in the cross rather than shame. Jesus did not rely on
His earthly resources and strength to accomplish His Father's will. Rather, He
trusted His Father to give Him strength, courage, and perseverance in facing an-
tagonism, difficulties, and enticement. We must take up our cross and pursue
wherever He calls us (St. Luke 9:23). The Holy Spirit, whom Jesus promised to
send, will give us the strength and power to live as his disciples.
Each of us has a unique role to play in God's plan. He has created us for a specif-
ic purpose, a work that He has not entrusted to another. This service could be as
simple as showing love and kindness to those around us, or as complex as dedi-
cating our lives to a specific cause that aligns with God's values. It could involve
teaching, healing, advocating for justice, or any other act that reflects God's love
and values in the world. It is our responsibility to discover and fulfil that role, and
in doing so, we can live a purposeful life in accordance with our Christian beliefs.
We have our mission; He has not created us for nothing. We aim to spread
Christ's love and teachings, be a light in the world, and bring others closer to
God.
Do we truly trust in God and His call and purpose for our life? We can discern
God's call and purpose through prayer, Scripture reflection, and seeking His di-
vine guidance from spiritual mentors. Trusting in God's call and purpose can bring
us closer to Him and give us the strength and courage to fulfill our mission.

OBITUARY
Mrs. Molly C Benny (58yrs), Kakkatty House, Pathanapu-
ram, aunt of our member Mrs Mincy Thomas ( 12 Nassau
Dr, New Hyde Park NY 11040), went to be with the Lord in
Kerala. Funeral Services were held at Mar Lazarus Ortho-
dox Valiya Paly, Pathanapuram on June 10, 2024.
Mrs Mariamma Varghese, Kinattukara House, Mallappally
North, mother of our member Mrs. Jenymol Shaji and
mother in law of our member Mr. Shaji Eappen, 70 Juana
St, Turckahoe, NY went to her heavenly abode on June 15th
at the age of 82. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday
June 18th, 2024 at 10 AM at St Mary's Orthodox Church
Kaipatta, Mallappally
Mr. K J John, Kottarathil House, Mepral, father of our
member Mrs Reni Saji, 288 Fisher Ave, White Plains went
to be with the Lord at the age of 85 in India on Wednesday
June 19, 2024. Funeral Services were held on Saturday
22nd June , 2024 at St. John Orthodox Church, Mepral,
Thiruvalla.
on behalf of St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, I express our
sincere condolences to the bereaving families and pray that
God give them sufficient courage and strength to face this
difficult time.

Judgement on Seminary Case-1889
July 12
In 1879 a case was filed in the district court of Allep-
pey by Bishop Joseph Mar Dionysius against the then
Metropolitan of the Church Thomas Mar Athanasius.
Mar Dionysius prayed to the court to declare him as
the rightful Metropolitan of the Malankara Church
and also requested the court to evict Mar Athanasius
and his followers from the Old Seminary building in
Kottayam. The final verdict of this case came on 12
July 1889 from the Royal Court of Travancore. Two
Judges decreed that Joseph Mar Dionysius was the
rightful Metropolitan of the
Malankara Church as he expressed allegiance to the
Patriarch of Antioch. One Christian judge gave the
verdict in favor of Thomas Mar Athanasius because of
his conviction that the Malankara Church has been
an independent Church from the beginning. The Ma-
jority view prevailed and Thomas Mar Athanasius had
to leave the Old Seminary and the properties of the
Church, because he upheld the autonomy of the
Church.
The followers of Mar Athanasius got the Kottarakkara
church without a duel, they got the Maramon and
Kozhencherry churches through court decision, and
was given the right to conduct services on alternate
Sundays in five other churches. They put up small
sheds in other places to hold worship services.
